The funding model here is *messy*

Tories reckon the courses OfS shuts down would save £1.1 billion in unpaid loan subsidies.

Then ambitiously assumes 50% of cohort whose courses are shut go to apprenticeships, 25% to employment and 25% to another degree

When I was 18, I was working full time, long days and frequently at weekends. I've no idea how I'd have fitted in 'national service'

Many 18-year-olds are in the workforce. Many have caring responsibilities. Are we really going to tell them their contribution is not enough?

How about a tax on mean-spiritedness towards the generation below one's own borne out of a combination of lack of understanding and jealousy of youth. They'd make a fortune from all of us for years to come

because of the election my petition closes end of this month & it won’t reopen. I’m so upset as don’t think I’ll get the number required for a response. This feels utterly fruitless all the effort for 3 months cut off. Need 10,000

In a move that will surprise precisely no-one, Sir Ian Bauckham has been nominated as the government's pick to replace himself as chief regulator of Ofqual

He's served in an interim capacity since January

But the final decision may rest with Labour...
