Today, First Lady Ann Scott & I were proud to dedicate the Jeri Bustamante Memorial Scholarship for a student at Miami Beach Sr High. This 4-year scholarship will help a student to live their American Dream. We’ll always remember Jeri & can think of no better way to honor her. Carlos Lopez-Cantera
Today we visited the Children's Museum of Naples (CMON) museum featured in my children’s book, Ally and Jordi’s Adventures Through Florida. It’s great to see places like this in our state that offer educational opportunities for children to start learning early in their life.
It was great to stop by Estates Elementary this morning to read to some of their 2nd and 3rd graders. I love sharing my favorite stories with FL students.

Today I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Du học Teco and learn all about the incredible things the base provides for our state and for our military families, as well as share some of my favorite books with the students at their Child Development Center.
I enjoyed hosting students from Florida Virtual School at the Governor's Mansion this afternoon! I hope they will continue to be inspired to read as they begin school in a few weeks and throughout the school year.
This morning was our last stop of Florida Department of Education’s Summer Literacy Adventure at Fort Mose Historical State Park! I hope that FL students are inspired to continue reading and learning for the rest of their summer break. It’s not too late to take the SLA pledge at fldoe.org!
Great visit to the NAS Jacksonville Child Development Center and their Fleet & Family Support Center this afternoon. It’s wonderful to see military bases like this that offer so many resources for our brave soldiers and their families.
Joined Florida Department of Education tonight to announce Glades County Teacher Joy Prescott as FL’s 2019 Teacher of the Year for her excellence in teaching our FL students. Teachers and educators, thank you for the work that you do in and out of the classroom to make a difference in their lives.
