What a whopper! Finished up soil sampling with this beauty. Looked at structure via VESS, infiltration, earthworm counts and slake tests

Slake and VESS correlate, but not necessarily with earthworm numbers.
Will share more detail on how we planned our sampling if interested!

Lots of starlings out this morning. Feeding in the field but tonnes in the margin at the rough hedge edge too.

We leave edges of hedges uncut as it's said to keep it warmer for insects finding a winter refuge... Perhaps the Starlings know that's where the bugs are?
