I think a key part of being skeptical is requiring a higher standard of evidence for claims that rely on mechanisms that are unexplained or seem incompatible with other sciences (like physics)

@UnbelievableJB Ghosts, Ghouls and God Callum E. Cooper There are so many parapsychologists who don't believe the evidence supports beliefs in the paranormal. JB managed to find the one non-Christian parapsychologist who does.

Wiseman talks about an effect whereby a psychologist expecting to find a positive result will be more likely to find one.

All too often discussion about strange claims has the assumption that the claim is true and needs to be explained. As a sceptic I want to validate the claims before discussing potential explanations.
