We support our community and technical colleges in expanding opportunities for reskilling and upskilling. Thanks to Governor Greg Abbott and our legislative leaders, millions of new financial aid will be available to help Texans complete high-value credentials.

My friend Brandon Busteed reflects on Daniel Kahneman’s insights about the purpose of higher education. Great piece, with echoes of the allegory of the cave.

Great essay by James Hatch, Navy veteran, about his first semester at Yale. “We humans have much more in common than we have different. Thanks Yale, for helping me to become an aspiring bridge-builder at the age of 52.” medium.com/@james.hatch/m…

Intriguing essay from Brandon Busteed. Employers value the skills students learn via Liberal Arts, especially in combination with other recognized credentials. I'd add: we need broader collaborations among higher ed and employers to inform design of new, high-value credentials.

Valuable insights from Philip Uri Treisman and the Dana Center. We need more nuanced approaches to rigor in mathematics, and for the majority of students 'rigor' shouldn't imply a forced march to College Algebra.
