Did you know the decorative plaster in our Saloon is made of papier mâché?

Bishop Johnson constructed the Saloon in the Georgian era. It is said that he went to dinner at Hagley Hall, saw its Italian Rococo style plasterwork, and wanted something similar at the Castle!

The Japanese cherry trees our Grounds volunteers planted in November have started to flower!
Thank you Sakura Cherry Tree Project for this kind donation celebrating Japan’s friendship with the UK and brightening up the Castle car park. The blossoms are beautiful 🌸
