Twenty-seven facilities held Japanese American incarcerees during World War II. The names of many of the incarcerees weren’t accurately recorded, and it took Duncan Ryuken Williams and Irei team to get the names sorted out.

The Irei project by Duncan Ryuken Williams and his team contains the names of the 125,000 Japanese Americans incarcerated at 27 sites during World War II. Shirley Higuchi, JD visited and stamped the names of her family members.

.Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation is working hard to restore the root cellar—the only surviving camp structure built entirely by Japanese Americans. It takes an entire day to rebuild one of the wooden vents that allowed air to escape the cellar. #IMLSmedals
