Six years bedridden.
Went to an outpatient appt in 2018 (cardiology) where there was nowhere to lie down. Three hours slumped in wheelchair. Could have done things differently, but didn't know it would be delayed or what would happen

Read this and get angry and demand change ⬇️
Some of us working in Covid/Long Covid have been calling out the science &potential risks to children & their families for several years, both publicly, internationally & privately - raising concerns repeatedly- thinking naively once

Micheál Martin Cynthia Ní Mhurchú Stephen Donnelly You might ask Stephen Donnelly what are the HSE doing for our children with and why are they being misdiagnosed and referred to Camhs when the root cause is medical (infection/virus)❓we nearly lost our child to untreated brain inflammation.

Children's Commissioner for England I hope this includes a call for the hundreds of children suffering with PANS PANDAS UK Our community isn’t asking for change; we are demanding it. We won’t let our children become statistics in their generation’s national scandal and we are watching those with the power to help.

This Sunday I’ll be walking 5km in the Calgary Marathon to raise awareness and funds for the “Inflamed Brain Alliance for PANS PANDAS” team. If you live in Calgary we’d love you to join us at IBA’s cheer station!

This is our family perspective - without private health insurance we wouldn’t have been able to get a diagnosis & treatment for 2 of our daughters who have Pans Pandas after & . It’s 2024 when is treatment for going to be accessible to all on the NHS?💚🤯

'as evidence accumulates that PANS and PANDAS are real, attitudes are beginning to shift. Scientists who study the disorder now believe it is caused by an auto-immune reaction, in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks brain tissue.'

I have been working to raise awareness about PANS PANDA, an autoimmune-neuropsychiatric disorder which is often misdiagnosed. economist.com/science-and-te…

How common infections can spark psychiatric illnesses in children. And why many doctors do not realise it.

It feels like we're starting to be heard ❤️

But we didn’t use “anti-inflammatory” drugs. We used immune suppressant drugs to block IL17A function to ameliorate disease outcomes in a mouse model. They are a different category.

I’m glad to see that our work on the immune mechanisms of Group A Streptococcus sequelae in the brain is covered by the The Economist . How common infections can spark psychiatric illnesses in children economist.com/science-and-te…
