The LAPD, California High patrol and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s department formed as a coalition to raid the UCLA Gaza solidarity encampment. It seems like the police really went out of their way to make this raid as arduous and painful as possible.

How does UCLA expect their students to just go back to normal after this?

UCLA Econ prof Michael Chwe sewed this banner himself. We’ve held it many times, in support of immigrants’ rights and grad student strikers. Now that police have confiscated it, Michael will sew another one, including the names of the faculty and staff arrested while carrying it.

While everyone in Congress is passing bills telling us we can’t speak out against genocide, let’s remember that there is nothing more un-American than shooting and beating students on U.S. college campuses, limiting free speech, and shutting down lawful, peaceful assembly. #UCLA

As a #UCLA alum, I am so inspired by its students exercising their right of peaceful protest to the unimaginable atrocities in #Gaza , and so ashamed of the admin’s response. As Jess Peake rightly put it: these are dark days for free speech.

Let's not pretend any of this is about student safety.

Rubber bullets? Have you lost your mind UCLA? You are using rubber bullets against unarmed protestors who are *students* of your uni demanding you divest from genocide. You are attacking them to facilitate a quieter genocide. Fantastically gross legacy.

So many resources spent on clearing a camp of #UCLA students peacefully protesting a #genocide .
