Ballater Old Royal Station was the station nearest to Balmoral Castle and saw many Royal Journeys during the heyday of rail transport. It has not actually been a station since 1966.

In May 2015 it was extensively damaged by fire but has now been rebuilt to its former glory.

I know there will be thousands of these by morning, but I have just witnessed the best Aurora show I’ve ever seen. Phone pic from my garden which may be influenced by a little malt or two.

The Scottish National Gallery and the Royal Academy of Scotland at the foot of The Mound, Edinburgh. Both designed by William Henry Playfair (1790–1857), one of Scotland’s foremost architects. The National, as it is known now opened to the public in 1859.

St. Andrews Castle has been a Bishop's Palace, a Fortress and a State Prison during its long life. It is now mostly a ruin famous for its bottle dungeon.
