The world's largest international cyber defence exercise, Locked Shields 2024, led by NATO CCDCOE, concluded last week in Tallinn. The exercise aims to illustrate the real-world impact and complexity of cyber attacks by employing authentic technologies, defence and attack strategies.

The two-week international mine countermeasures operation Open Spirit 24 has concluded in 🇪🇪 waters. During the operation, the Estonian Navy and the marines from 16 NATO countries found 40 historical explosive devices – 37 mines, one torpedo and two other historical explosives.

April 29–May 18, Estonian Defence Forces | Eesti Kaitsevägi and Allies will increase aviation activity with low-flying, helicopter landings and overflights in Estonia for Ex Swift Response and Spring Storm. Aircraft include Eurofighter Typhoon, F16, Airbus A400M, Boeing C17, M28, WildCat, CH47 Chinook, Apache.

Allies from 16 NATO countries are currently part of the Open Spirit 24 historical ordnance disposal operation in Estonia, led by @kaitsevagi. From April 15-26, 700 participants joined forces in order to make the Baltic Sea safer for everyone.

Estonian Navy and 🇳🇴Norwegian unit HUGIN use an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) for mine countermeasures aboard the patrol vessel General Kurvits during Open Spirit 24. This marks the first time the Allies have equipped the 🇪🇪Estonian warship with a mine countermeasure module

During April, the 🇪🇪 Estonian contingent in Operation Inherent Resolve, in 🇮🇶 Iraq, has been celebrating Veterans Month with several sports competitions. Veterans Day on April 23rd was celebrated at Erbil Air Base with a ceremony honoring and commemorating fallen brothers in arms.

Major Marek Leiner received the Service Medal on behalf of the 🇺🇸 Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III in recognition of his exemplary contribution as an advisor for intelligence and security to the international military operation 🇮🇶 Operation Inherent Resolve. His service was intense, educational and fruitful.

Exercise Ymir/Bold Bugle concluded successfully. It was well-organized, providing excellent training for all three NATO allies and facilitating the integration of NATO Battlegroup Estonia with 🇬🇧 British Army 🇬🇧 and 🇫🇷 French Forces in Estonia 🇨🇵🇪🇪 into the 🇪🇪 Estonian 1st Infantry Brigade's order of battle.

Estonian and NATO 13 warships join Open Spirit 2024 to dispose historical ordnance in 🇪🇪 Estonian waters from 15-26th April. 🇫🇮 Merivoimat - Finska Marinen - The Finnish Navy and 🇸🇪 Försvarsmakten participate for the first time. The mine countermeasures operation adds training value to its role in NATO's deterrence.

Starting from April 16th, Exercise Ymir transitions to Exercise Bold Bugle, running until April 17th, with 🇬🇧 and 🇫🇷 NATO Battlegroup Estonia being integrated into the 🇪🇪 1st Infantry Brigade's order of battle.

Allies worked together through a full range of military operations in the recent #WarfighterCPX / #AustereChallenge in which the 🇪🇪 Estonian Division integrated 🇺🇸 4thSFAB and other NATO members.

Commander of 🇪🇪 Estonian Defence Forces | Eesti Kaitsevägi, General Martin Herem met with the Commander of 🇱🇺 Lëtzebuerger Arméi, General Steve Thull, to receive an overview of the security situation in Estonia. He also visited Ämari Air Base and the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (@ccdcoe).

Last week, Master Sergeant Marko Taluste received the Service Medal for his superb contributions to the international military operation Operation Inherent Resolve. During his 10-month service, he contributed to planning, personnel integration, infrastructure, procedures, and strategic advising.

The conscripts of the 🇪🇪2nd Infantry Brigade and the mortar group of the allied unit of the 🇺🇸USA in Estonia honed their skills in offensive and defensive battles at the Nursipalu training ground. The exercise also featured drone integration in combat alongside anti-drone tactics

Today, NATO celebrates 75 years of collective defence. Estonia has been a member of NATO since 29 March 2004. Thanks to our membership in NATO and the European Union, the security of Estonia is better secured than ever before.

Estcoy-20, recently deployed to US-led Operation Inherent Resolve in 🇮🇶 Iraq, held a live-fire drill in collaboration with a 🇺🇸 medical helicopter unit, to enhance medical skills. 🇪🇪 Estcoy-20 is responsible for security at Erbil base, handling quick response tasks both airborne and on the ground.

This week @kaitsevagi, Defence League and Allies from 🇬🇧 UK and 🇫🇷 France celebrate 🇪🇪 Estonia's 20 years of NATO membership and the 75th anniversary of NATO with community events all over Estonia. Estonia joined NATO on 29th of March 2004.

New rotation, 🇪🇪Estcoy-20 in Operation Inherent Resolve in 🇮🇶Iraq, has conducted nearly 10 close protection operations since taking over a week ago. Notable was their escort of 20 military advisers during Iraqi Kurdistan's celebration of Newroz in Akre, covering 300 km amidst crowded festivities.

On 19th March a ceremony was held by 🇫🇷 CTE and French Forces in Estonia 🇨🇵🇪🇪 in Tapa base, where Commander of Armée de Terre Lt Gen Bertrand Toujouse awarded medals to 🇪🇪 Estonian soldiers who served in Armée française - Opération BARKHANE between 2018 - 2019.kl
