Checking some #wheat fields with Aaron Harries today. Beyond the crop being ahead of schedule and desperately needing some rain, we are seeing lot of freeze damage in the way from Manhattan to McPherson KansasWheat K-State Research and Extension K-State Agronomy
For the week ending April 28, there were 5.2 days suitable for fieldwork, according to National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 25% very short, 31% short, 35% adequate and 9% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 23% very short, 36% short, 35% adequate and 6% surplus.
Here's the forecast I put out last Tuesday and here's the observed totals on the Kansas Mesonet. Happy to see some spot over delivered... Unfortunately, the biggest bust in the forecast was Central Kansas. More on the way this week... stay tuned!
