St Ellyw’s, Llanelieu is renowned for its huge 14th-century rood screen and loft. The wooden panels are painted red and decorated with stencilled white roses. In the centre, the white cross remains as a ghostly reminder of the former rood that once stood on the rood beam.

I was so impressed with Clare Beams's new novel, The Garden. Sharp and eerie, about desire and autonomy, and shimmering, haunting prose. This is going to be a best book of the year for me for sure. Highly recommended.
