WASPI South East Essex The Labour Party We are suppose to look forward to our retirement, but instead itβs just going to be one long hardship, till we die π
'Britainβs pensioners deserve certainty and stability β¦β¦.β says The Labour Party Why then have you gone so silent on the #WASPI issue? Many are now pensioners,1000βs of these women using food banks will be #1950swomen who are in poverty & will never have the retirement they planned.
I thought I'd start today with one that I haven't shown for quite a while. It is a rare surviving example of work by the Group's president, Murroe Fitzgerald. This is 'Monsieur et Madame' by him from 1929 but not exhibited in 1930. #MurroeFitzgerald #EastLondonGroup
I thought I'd start today & the new week with this lovely watercolour of 'Woodbridge Tide Mill' by Lilian Leahy which is undated but it most likely comes from 1934 when her husband to be, Elwin Hawthorne exhibited 'Mill at Woodbridge'. #LilianLeahy #Woodbridge #EastLondonGroup
Here's Mel Stride 'out in the sunshine' while #WASPI #1950swomen wait for his response to Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman report. Its contents were clear. There was Maladministration & compensation should be paid. Department for Work and Pensions knew it was coming. Just get on with it. #WASPI Campaign DevonWASPI
Overnight, we experienced the first Extreme Geomagnetic Storm since 2003.
We received hundreds of wonderful images of the northern lights from right across the UK, so here are just a few of them Shantanu Deshpande Tracey Wilkinson π Andrew Ferguson Aleksandra π
Good morning, John John Tizard & thank you, as always. I hope you've had a good first week in post as Police & Crime Commissioner for Bedfordshire. In the circumstances, maybe an image containing a policeman might be appropriate in the form of 'Saloon Bar' from by Brynhild Parker
'Sadness in my eyes, no one guessed, well no one tried' has got to be one of the most beautiful, but heart-rending, lyrics ever #GeorgeMichael
Thank you Peter Aldous MP for your staunch support & for speaking up so eloquently at the Work & Pensions Committee in favour of a fair compensation scheme for #WASPI #1950swomen . Justice delayed is justice denied & we've already waited far too long. #WASPI Campaign
I thought I'd start today with 'The Stable' by Walter Steggles from 1926. It was shown at the Bethnal Green Men's Institute show that year, Whitechapel Gallery in 1928 & again Tate in 1929! #WalterSteggles #ThursdayMorning #EastLondonGroup
Paul Lewis Spending someone else's money racking up HUGE student loans? Most students I know work in the real world as well as study as they can't afford to do otherwise.
Russ Jones Farage will push the socialists out of the party. Andy Burnham needs to be leader, before Labour is unrecognisable.

Kathryn Rimmington Pen Thompson CBE Polly Powell Batsford Books Good morning, Kathryn & thank you. As things stand at present, I believe that the publication date is expected to be October/November this year. I can update you nearer the time once things firm up a bit.
Good evening, Michael Michael Rosen ππππ & thank you. Yes, it is a superb sketch. It would be lovely to know more about Hannah Cohen but very little information exists. May I wish you a very Happy Birthday. I hope this 'Still Life' by Murroe Fitzgerald is suitably 'celebratory '!
