Cool find during some pond maintenance by our Summerwood Community Gardens volunteers - caddis fly cases! The larvae use silk to bind together bits of stick, stones and other debris to make a protective case. This one even has some pearl mussels hanging out on it! #insects #wildlifegardening

Picked up a few plants from Hardy Plant Society Nottingham Group sale today; also got distracted by lots of ladybirds hanging out mostly around various Lamiaceae. Mostly harlequins, but also a 10spot! #ladybirds

Get ready for #Arachtober ! This is our 17th year celebrating #spiders and all #arachnids . This year's banner tries to capture the color and feeling of one of Conall McCaughey's scaterscape web shots. Have fun!
Worms contribute 6.5% plus #pollinators add between 5% and 8% (call it another 6.5%). There's a 13% contribution to agriculture from #nature , even before we consider insectivorous birds, dragonflies, etc.
Investing in nature makes a contribution to #FoodSecurity - fact!
