The LEO Foundation - LEO Fondet has granted 4 million DKK to a new innovative #phagetherapy project led by Thomas Sicheritz-Pontén (@UCPH_Research), aiming to combat necrotizing soft tissue infections by harnessing Group A Strep-targeting #phages .

In the last 3 years, there were almost 160 papers citing this invaluable viral genomic database. Those who maintain it and update it monthly are doing so on a voluntary basis.
What happens to this resource when they can't continue? What kind of funding is available for it?

Somewhat late after we (Ryan Cook) actually updated the INPHARED database with phage genomes we could find in Genbank, for the month. Here are the links .

We recently hosted Maren 🦠 Microbe Lover, MSc + team from PBS at the CentreforPhageResearch. They made a great documentary for all ages on the discovery and need for antimicrobials. The 2nd half shows the urgent need for new approaches and features our work on UTI phages.
