We spent five hours weeding and mulching the wildlife hedge of mixed native #trees at the bottom of #Lewes Cemetery today. Hawthorn and Spindle coming into blossom. This is the #hedge we planted in 2021 to complement our 'Trees for Bees' project with Lewes District Council .

Is anything more wonderful than ancient trees? Here are some of most Britain's most famous: the Yew & me 5k yrs old (allegedly), the Birnham oak & sycamore and lastly my favourite the oldest goat willow (nr Struay) in UK, which is more entire ecosystem than solitary veteran

First birds in a swift box

The first house martins are returning- here's my experience of attracting this beautiful and threatened summer migrant. Includes a monthly summary of a UK house martin summer and links to some tried and tested artificial nests.

Blocked swift nest sites were reported by SOS Vencejos in Jan, in Seville, covered with cardboard. Today, those nests remain covered. Swifts are site loyal returning to the exact home after 9 months on the wing. 💔

3 swifts, unknown sp., were seen today over Bangor County Down. This is very early for us. The average date for 1st sightings is April 18th
