A day volunteering for NE at Yarner NNR today - looking at analysis of acoustic data we are collecting from Dartmoor woodlands.
Don’t forget - Lisa Schneidau and me are doing a day course on ecology and folktale of these woodlands in March, book here

Here’s a thing - what caused the splits in these trees at Yarner Wood NNR here on Dartmoor?
The answer is quite surprising.

#FolkloreSunday Lisa Schneidau’s Botanical Folk Tales has a tale for this season from Kildare in which a leprechaun tricks a farmer into digging for gold under ragwort. He marks the “correct” plant with a black & orange hanky, but when he returns ALL the plants are so marked.
This coming Friday at 7pm we have Lisa Schneidau presenting a selection of magical fairy tales in the library, and then here is the first half of our March programme of events.
All FREE thanks to #GridCommunityFund support. Please contact us to book places.
For last Friday's Warm Winter event we enjoyed an evening of professional storytelling with Lisa Schneidau
This Friday at 7 we have a talk on 'Dartmoor Women Through the Ages' from tour guide Emma Cunis.
Our free Friday events are funded by #GridCommunityFund

A Lisa Schneidau/ Zendaya crossover wasn't on my bingo card. I welcome it, without any clue of how things will pan out

A typically torrential April walk on Dartmoor this afternoon discussing commons, moorland history & environmental politics with Dartmoor historian Matthew Kelly (Matt Kelly), Tony Whitehead & Lisa Schneidau… and yes given Matt’s twitter handle we had to visit Scorhill stone circle!
