Delicious new piece by the prodigiously talented Christopher Churcher. Harriet Burns and Ian Tindale totally nailed it.
Stunning singing & playing. Rock-solid technique allied to great musical intelligence from Harriet Burns Elgan Llŷr Thomas Ian Tindale & compelling new songs Christopher Churcher Everywhere intuitive responses to text communicated clearly in the music
Really excited for this afternoon’s screening of ‘Michael Tippett, The Shadow And The Light’, and to hear from director John Bridcut.
I found his 2019 film ‘Janet Baker In Her Own Words’ profoundly moving and memorable.

I love this morning’s programme Ludlow English Song Weekend 🎶. Harriet Burns & Elgan Llŷr Thomas have created a recital of four song cycles with war and the passing of human time at its centre, including the #premiere Christopher Churcher ‘Skysongs’, which closes with a stunning setting of #SaraTeasdale .
Looking forward to hearing soprano Harriet Burns. She gave this lovely interview to Fran Wilson 🎹🖋 in February, about her musical path and her partnership with pianist Ian Tindale who she’s performing with today. meettheartist.online/2024/02/23/har…

An amazing first concert of the weekend from James Newby (James Newby) and iain burnside! Especially exciting to hear Jessy Reason’s ‘Songs of Death’ with texts by Rabindranath Tagore.
And now… cabaret! “Girls will be Boys” with Jessica Walker (Jessica Walker) and Joseph Atkinson.
All joy to the team Ludlow English Song Weekend 🎶 for a great 3-days of music, featuring both the wonderful Jessica Walker (with the super-talented Joseph Atkins at the piano) in her cabaret ‘Girls Will Be Boys’ & the brilliant Jerome Knox who appears in the closing Stanford celebration concert!
I love a good title!
‘Sure on this shining night’ takes its title from a poem by James Agee, set by Barber.
The programme explores ‘youth, day, old age and night’ (itself a brilliant poem by Walt Whitman set by Ned Rorem).
Tonight 19:30 Assembly Rooms
