Powerful gathering last week that brought the SHiFT difference to life - or as Thomas LANG put it this morning, ‘got under the bonnet’ of practice that breaks cycles of crime. Huge thanks to Paul Marshall Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit for your ongoing support. So proud of work we’re doing together.
Some great work with the Endeavour Federation team today developing our conflict resolution work with Dr Luke Roberts Castlefield Campus Meade Hill School
One of my favourite activities is building living networks to show how #complexsystems rely on interconnection and interdependence! It also shows what happens when suddenly disconnected. → Dr Luke Roberts challenged us: Is restorative practice and trauma-informed as currently put into action just icing on an otherwise punitive cake? Does restorative practice allow good people to stay in harmful systems & soothe harm caused to those experiencing that system?
As always, the duo, Dr Terence Bevington & Dr Luke Roberts, do not disappoint! A stimulating event on #RestorativeJustice , #PeaceEducation & #ComplexSystems ! Lovely to reconnect with familiar faces & connect with new ones. To top it off, I got a gift & bore Jim Simon with my plans 😜!
Today was an education-focused day at SHiFT. We discussed school inclusion at our Lunch & Learn, and joined a conference organised by Dr Terence Bevington & Dr Luke Roberts for a conversation about the potential and future of restorative practice in education. Key takeaways below.
Fantastic to be back Cambridge University for a day of thinking about restorative practice led by one of our brilliant SHiFT trustees Dr Luke Roberts
Massive thanks to the students on the RCA Service Design and Dr Nick de Leon for attending my session on Understanding Systems: Design for Change. A really great group of master students with a velocity of thought and questions which kept me on my toes😅
