Great to attend the final of the IMechE Rail Division Young Engineers' competition at the HQ in London this evening. Seven really interesting presentations from the winners from the regional divisions, and a hard job for the judges to pick a winner. And still spring outside afterwards!

Thanks to the team at Southeastern for a superb day out today - a trip in the cab of a Hitachi Rail (ENG) Class 395 'Javelin' to Ashford at up to 140mph, a visit to the depot to see the fleet upgrade programme and a return to London on a set which had been refreshed
