I have an open PhD position in computational electron microscopy starting from June 1st. Topics: 4D-STEM, 3D imaging, ptychography, tomography, low-dose imaging. Looking for someone with a computational background who also doesn't shy away from the microscope.

As bad as this is - and it IS bad - at least everyone can read it - the previous model had the rest of the world subsidizing your $12k publishing fee while providing basically nobody access to the paper.

The other thing about the outrage that most people miss is that we collectively pay much more than that for each closed-access article in Nature via subscriptions. Indeed, the average cost of a subscription article is around 4000€, and we’ve been paying that for years.
