Today marks 5 years since the recommendations of the Royal Commission into the Detention and Protection of Children in the NT, which recommended closing Don Dale.
We now have record numbers of Aboriginal children incarcerated due to punitive bail laws introduced last year.

We're delighted to connect Aboriginal lawyers, educators, law students, historians, Traditional Owners sharing their knowledge and experiences for true justice grounded in deep listening.

Day 2 of a True Justice Deep Listening course for NAAJA civil legal team. Our classrooms are outside as we learn and share on country.

True Justice grounded in deep listening. We're so excited by the upcoming sessions connecting Traditional Owners, trauma informed practitioners, cultural educators, historians, interpreters and linguists, lawyers sharing their knowledge and speaking from their own authority.

Earlier this month we held a course for ANU College of Law at Mparntwe - Tempe Downs - Uluru.

Tomorrow we start a course for NAAJA civil legal and law and justice teams on Larrakia country and to Kakadu National Park.

We're seeking to change the way law and justice is taught.

Learning about Aboriginal law, knowledge and context is by engaging directly with the source authority. These were some of our classrooms.

An honour for NAAJA to be involved in this moment of change.

The places we visit where legal institutions sit have stories and connect to our legal system today. The stories on country have a much longer history and also shape the world today. With these courses, the country also teaches.
