In 2020, the sector’s biggest wage thief, University of Melbourne management, illegally threatened 2 staff who questioned their pay. While it’s pleasing management’s been fined $75K, with >$160m stolen from university staff this behaviour is widespread. Urgent action is required.

Too many university workers are in insecure employment.

Union win! Federal parliament today passed a bill heavily curtailing ministerial veto power over individual research grants. Ministers will now be at arm's length from grant approvals. Congratulations to all NTEU members who fought for this over many years.
