On Sunday April 21, 2024 at 0411 hours a women was viciously sexually assaulted and robbed in the SoHo area. A tremendous effort by our NYPD Special Victims and Fugitive Enforcement team led to the quick identification and apprehension of Ellow Williams a 30 year old parolee from Manhattan.

I had the opportunity today to meet with Lt Colonel Jorgue Mora and a delegation from the Colombian National Police. We shared investigative techniques and enjoyed collaborating with our South American counterparts.

We will #neverforget NYPD Chief of Detectives Joint Organized Crime Task Force Detective Anthony Joseph Venditti who was shot and killed in the line of duty in 1986. May he rest in eternal peace.

Two years ago our department family suffered the tragic loss of Police Officer Jason Rivera who was shot and murdered, and Police Officer Wilbert Mora who was mortally wounded and died 4 days later. Our family never forgets their sacrifice.

After a tremendous investigative effort by our investigators who were assisted by department resources from every NYPD bureau, Detectives brought swift closure to a pattern of violence committed by this man, Jermain Rigueur, 30. Truly amazing effort by the entire NYPD.

Today we congratulate a new class of Traffic Enforcement Agents who are about to hit the streets. They keep our citizens and visitors safe by ensuring vehicles are operated and parked safely.

What an honor it was to have known and worked with our former Chief of Department Joseph Esposito. His leadership and friendship during his tenure on the job is something I will never forget. My condolences to his family and all who knew and were touched by him.

Our Police Communication Technicians (911 operators) are the link between the public and the police. When people need help in an emergency, our PCT’s are there to both obtain and relay the info as well as provide basic life support instructions. Congrats to all who graduated!

Eight years ago we lost Detective Joe Lemm who was assigned to Bronx Warrant Squad, while he was deployed in Afghanistan fighting with the Air Force National Guard. We never forget our lost hero’s, and Joe’s memory is always in our heart.
