Electoral College was created to prevent Americans from directly electing president b/c founding fathers wanted to restrict democratic participation. It favored slave states & small states and protected elite white power. It's antiquated, undemocratic & needs to be abolished

If no candidate receives the 270 votes needed to win, the President will be determined by the House of Representatives with each state getting one vote. The Senate will use a similar system for the Vice President. The NationalPopularVote will fix this.
