Absolutely, Paul. The difference in school mental health provision between here and Australia was incredible. Ring-fenced budgets, numerous mental health staff, evidence-based programmes being delivered to students by experts. We must follow their lead and do better ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

Thereโ€™s another point about the NW. In 2023 the rate jumped by 19%, a huge single year rise.

Almost half the national increase of 295 deaths occurred in this one region. That seems inherently implausible.

The NW now has the highest regional rate, overtaking the NE.

Starting with the 9 regions that make up England.

Almost 90% of the 2023 national suicide โฌ†๏ธ came from only 3 regions.

Large rises were seen in North-east, North-west & East of England. Plus a smaller rise in East Midlands.

5 regions, with 2/3 of the population, saw no rise.
