Whenever I post about better shopping habits, someone asks 'people really don't do this?' And it's like, YES, that's why we're in a crisis! I help clients break their bad habits daily, of course there are people with poor habits that don't realize AND plenty more that don't care.

Every piece you purchase should, in some way, build on what you already have. No garment is an island! If you are not shopping to meet a need, and to make what you own even more styleable/wearable, you're likely shopping just to shop.

Pro Tip: to tell if a stretch garment fits:

• the side seams should run relatively vertically up your body. If they tilt forward/back or look like drunk snakes, it doesn’t fit

• there shouldn’t be horizontal creases at stress points, that’s called whiskering

…there’s no saving this.

Pro Tip: to see if clothes will fit when you’re in person but can’t try them on (garage sales, OUR LIQUIDATION SALE!!, etc) bring a tape measure and a note of your measurements…not just chest/waist/hip/etc, but anywhere you have fit issues, like neck to waist for short torsos!
