These dangerous laws are propped up not only by the courts but by the cowardly lawyers, editors and publishers who simply accept them without question — of course, the huge exception being Jo Maugham Good Law Project and Nina Cresswell who literally fought the law on this, and won.

This is great from Nina Cresswell on abuse in the music industry, how the law is weaponised to silence victims/survivors and helpful practical tips (lots to take on board from there for other contexts too)

'Breaking a silence (responsibly and reasonably)
To protect women in the music industry and hold perpetrators accountable, speaking out, reasonably and responsibly, must be made safer. Until then, it needs to be done carefully'. drownedinsound.org/why-we-need-to…

'When women speak out – that is, bringing public awareness to abuse so it doesn’t go unexcused – they are, for the most part, punished. Those who choose to come forward about their experiences..open themselves up to being publicly shamed, sacked, or sued'

Is this the first mention in a Press Release issued by a United Kingdom government of 'corrupt elites'? Whatever you think of the Bill - and I'm cautiously positive - it is pretty jarring language for a Government. gov.uk/government/new…

It's been a long journey to bring back DiS.

To mark the new era, the first essay is an empowering read

It's in response to the Misogyny in Music report by the inspiring Nina Creswell (Nina Cresswell)

And it's about speaking out

Every now and then, I read something that makes me go, 'Fuck Yes!'. This morning, I came across exactly this.

Nina Cresswell's piece in Drowned in Sound ⚓️ on the music industry's treatment of women, especially in the wake of the movement, is not just a desperately needed

After the Misogyny in Music report, a lot of well-meaning people said they hoped women could come forward about the abuse they suffered. Yes - up to a point. Speaking out has huge costs for women. This is an important piece by Nina Cresswell for Drowned in Sound ⚓️

If something happened to you, would you know how to speak out?

If 6.54m women have experienced sexual violence, why do so few post online?

Nina Cresswell worked with Good Law Project to win a landmark case and explores NDAs, Anti-SLAPPs, libel, defamation and more
