I'm reminded of the immortal words of Archie Goodwin to fans. 'Keep telling yourself every day... It's just a comic... It's just a comic...'

I think all long running Brit comics and heroes go through periods of rebooting, but as long as the central themes are there it's usually okay and readers don't have a problem, apart from a minority such as yourself

No. Lower but stable. The scary drop came later in the 90s. Everything new and different in comics is a risk. But playing it safe with just more of the same is likely to lose more readers, especially for an adventurous comic like 2000AD. On ABCs it worked (apart from yourself.)

Ross Byrne Pat Mills Khronicles of Khaos is my favourite ABC Warriors story out of them all. The story, the art, the covers, the subversion... the ATTITUDE that permeates everything.

It isn't too far behind The Horned God in the Pantheon of comic greats.

As long as the majority liked it, I think it was worth losing a minority. As I was tweeting just now, Tony and I got fed up with writing superficial cool characters in comics and decided to express our views on it. It was risky - but we got away with it. Probably wouldn't today

I recall Tony and I talking about the questionable nature of cool heroes in comics with Joe as a prime example. So we wrote a whole sequence leading up to him 'coming out'. We felt depth & vulnerability were also important for heroes and our khaos planet provided the opportunity

Pat Mills Think this kind of weeded out the type of people who were also just enjoying the Fascist elements of the comic at face value, rather than enjoying them being satirised.

Matt Pat Mills Pat Mills has always been ahead of his own time. It was collected in the ABC Warriors Khronicles of Kaos mini series.

Pat Mills Yes, a lot of the press barons 1914-18 like Lord Northcliffe became wealthier from the Newspaper boom during WW1 and were very establishment figures, equally true today with TV stations .

Pat Mills I was lent a book featuring WWI propaganda material from all nations. Posters on almost every page.
It was glued spine european album format, in colour, and showed both sides.
Printed in 1917.

Pat Mills I wanna headcanon Nemesis as 'Married with Kids but Bi', but it's much easier to just say that Ol' Uncle B'aal Is in a committed loving relationship with his Gay Skeleton Chair.
