Our Cell paper with Eric Greene @DNACurtain came out last week. It explains how RAD54 functions with RPA to promote RAD51-mediated DNA sequence alignment during HR, consistent with predictions of our 2000 Mol Cell paper and 2003 JBC review. cell.com/cell/pdf/S0092…

We would like to welcome Assistant Professor/Research Jae-Hoon Ji to the lab. Jae-Hoon did postdoctoral work here at UTHSCSA with Sang-Eun Lee before heading to South Korea in 2012, and he has now returned to San Antonio to work jointly with us and the Lee lab.

Eva Galvan is a Radiation Oncology resident who is using her elective months to study mechanisms of recombination in our lab. Fun fact - Eva went to Yale as an undergrad and took Patrick's Principles of Biochemistry course back in 2009!

We have two clinicians getting basic DNA repair research experience in our lab at the moment. Michael Auster is a 2nd year resident in Internal Medicine here at UTHSCSA. Michael is interested in hematology/oncology and worked in wound healing/vascular surgery before joining us.
