OTD 1941 German paratroopers dropped into Crete in the first mostly airborne invasion. In a break from the predictable here's a photo I took of a dress made from parachute cord & worn by Adriani D. Antonakaki on her wedding day in Rethymno (Oct 1941). Maritime Museum, Chania.

He's just recalled the moment in 1942 when he killed a German soldier at El-Alamein when he was trying to surrender.

One of cinema’s great flukes: Sigourney Weaver sinking this impossible basketball shot in Alien: Resurrection. Nobody thought she could do it; they had to make a quick cut in the edit as Ron Perlman instantly broke character and shouted, “Holy shit, it went in!”

Amazing Bismarck story on . I have to correct myself on this. Not shrapnel as described at end, but a shell fragment. For those who don't know. Different projectile types. Shrapnel balls explode from interior of a shell. Shell fragments are from body of a shell.

Continuing to make most of the freebie access to Apple TV. Foolishly started to give Napoleon another go. Gave up after Toulon. Still shite. Switched to Masters of the Air. Beautiful to look at & even enjoyed the RAF flyboys taking a pasting outside pub. A few still to go.

At last! Series 3 of Slow Horses. Forever known here as Lazy Donkeys thanks to Maria Pollard telling people how great it was way back before the title had sunk in (or just drink).
