Recently, a mysterious medical chest was found in Queen’s Medical Library. The chest is linked to Surgeon James McCleery and his son James McCleery jr.

James Sr. was a medical attendant to the poorhouse from 1835 to his unfortunate death in 1847 by famine fever.
