- 23 November 1948, the 34th Infantry Brigade was designated as the Australian Regiment, with the Battalions becoming the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Battalions, The Australian Regiment (late given the Royal assent on 10 Mar 1949). Happy Birthday to the Regiment! The RAR Association
