I’m so sick of academics who make PhD students and postdocs feel bad about themselves. I see it happen frequently and it’s awful.

If you’re one of those people, please stop and consider how you can support them instead. Our early career scholars deserve better.

Strategies are so removed from lived experience. What is the lived experience and direct link of people who make strategies with the people they are strategising about? A psychologically safe workplace will create ways of working that are organic, responsive, and inclusive of all

I find being working class and the first person in my family to go to uni means that I don’t celebrate academic achievements with my family. Not that they don’t care they just don’t get it, journal articles etc don’t mean nowt when you’ve got myriad of other stuff to contend with

Congratulations to Rachael O'Connor on the publication of a paper based on her LITE Fellowship.

The paper reports the initial phase of Rachael's LITE Fellowship when she worked with under-represented students to design a reverse mentoring scheme.

This 'nice cannot equal racist' narrative becomes internalised. People often struggle with believing acts of obvious racism are racism bc they are enacted by ppl who 'everyone says is so nice'. I tell them some of the most psychologically violent racism is enacted by 'nice' ppl.
