Just confirmed with the agent that Travis Kelce’s contract is not an extension through 2027, but rather a renegotiated 2-year contract that replaces the final two seasons of his previous deal in KC.

Kelce was set to earn $30.25M, but can now bag $34.25M, $17M of which is…

As the dust settles around the chaos of Travis Kelce's new contract, we now have enough details to understand the plan.
Kelce celebrated 'these next two years' and Brett Veach explained why now was the time to get the deal done.

'I can't wait to get after it these next two years.'
Sounds like the early language from some of the national reporters was wrong. Lots of 'extension' and 'four more years' talk. Think this is actually a two-year raise/guarantee for Kelce, not adding new years.

Compensation update: Travis Kelce signed a two-year, $34.25 million deal that includes $17 million fully guaranteed this year and most of next year guaranteed on day 3 of the league year in mid March.

Per his 2 year, $34.25M extension through 2027, Travis Kelce secures:

- guaranteed money in 2024 (previously $0)
- early offseason guarantees thereafter
- the highest TE AAV ($17.125M) in history
- an assumed lower cap hit for 2024

star Travis Kelce’s contract extension tacks on two years and $34.25 million to the two years remaining on his old deal, per sources.

Kelce now has guaranteed money in 2024, with additional money vesting year-by-year. He’s signed through 2027, when he’ll be 38.

I looked at Jared Wiley's film and wrote about his skillset, where he could fit into the Chiefs' offense quickly, and why comparing him to Young Kelce isn't quite accurate (as well as unfair to Wiley).

You should read it. Really intriguing player.

I am here to once again tell everyone that jersey numbers are getting out of hand and need to be stopped.

A TE cannot wear 12. It's unnatural and we are provoking the universe.

It feels to be near-certain at this point (or at least very realistic) that Mahomes, Kelce, and Jones all play for the Chiefs their entire careers.
