I had a great time with the Student Senate at Black Hills State University. I shared how I got involved in politics and why I’m passionate about serving South Dakota. We chatted about the future of artificial intelligence and how they can continue to grow their group.

I recently urged the EPA to allow drivers access to cleaner, cheaper E15 fuel during the summer driving season. I'm pleased they issued that waiver today. One of my top priorities is allowing year-round access to biofuels, and I'll keep working to make that a reality.

Twenty years ago, Jim and I ran against each other for a seat on the Public Utilities Commission. Jim was a gentleman, and was friendly and respectful throughout the race. Over the years, we continued to have a friendly relationship and I’m saddened by his passing.

South Dakota Association of Health Care Organizations and I talked about 340B drug programs that I support, site-neutral payment policies, and our nursing shortage. We have nearly 1,600 open positions and we discussed ways to support the occupation in South Dakota.

I enjoyed meeting with Avera Health's new CEO, Jim Dover. We discussed the growth in S.D. and improvements being made at Avera to complement that growth. We also discussed the shortage of nurses in S.D. and our shared opposition to CMS rules that would exacerbate this issue.

Spearfish High School stopped by the Capitol to say hi to their Congressional delegation. I gave them a quick update on what to expect from the House of Representatives this week and heard about their plans for after graduation.
