At Ellis Tech High School, work-based learning is providing students with career paths at local employers and valuable lifelong skills.

I had the chance to visit Ellis Tech students & alumni at Woodstock Building Associates, A. Reynolds Electric, & Vanilla Bean Café in Pomfret.

Firefighters’ brave work keeping us safe puts them at high risk for toxic chemical exposure. As a 2024 Community Project, I worked with Lisbon to secure $140k in federal funding for uniform decontamination equipment at the new – currently under construction – Lisbon fire station.

Eastern CT is the fastest growing job market in our state and the 2nd fastest in New England.

And it's no accident. It's the result of a well-thought-out effort to boost training & support employers.

ICYMI: Norwich is set to receive a new $10.9 million Infrastructure Law grant to replace old, leaky gas pipelines.

Thanks to federal funding, the original 25-year pipeline replacement timeline is now accelerated to five years.

In 2022, I worked with Fitch High School in Groton to help launch their Career Pathways Program with a $150k federal Community Project grant.

The program is up and running, and last week, I visited classes in health sciences, communications, engineering, and culinary arts.

As the only hospital in northeast CT, Day Kimball is a health care anchor for our region.

I’ve worked with Day Kimball to secure federal Community Project funding for new equipment. Yesterday, I visited to hear how it has expanded services and where more resources are needed.

With a booming job market, federal workforce funding is filling positions in critical industries.

I visited the CNA Bootcamp in Danielson to meet with students, instructors, & Owner Angelina Zabbo. A class of Haitian trainees is skilling-up to work as nurses in eastern CT.

As the first light of dawn breaks across this ANZAC Day morning, let us remember afresh that when the night seems to be at its darkest, the spark of human freedom can never be extinguished.

Great to catch up with United Way of SECT at their Gemma E. Moran food warehouse, which supplies over 70 food banks in the region.

We secured $266k in federal Community Project funds for a power generator, allowing the warehouse to continue operating during storms & power outages.

I’m sending my condolences to Congressman Payne's family and share my deep admiration for his life-long commitment to public service.
