Did you know? Rhode Island will be among multiple states across the country hosting Day of Reason events this week! Together, we celebrate rational thought, secular values and of course reason!

Historically men have been more likely than women to come out as atheists. However, trends are now indicating that young women are now the least religious group in our country!

A big victory for freedom & equality expected in our state Thursday. The Rhode Island Senate will be voting to pass The Health Care Provider Shield Act. While other states work to restrict medical professionals and civil liberties, Rhode Island pushes forward!

Legislative update: While we’ve been busy planning our big event, our friends & partners secured a great victory today! Kudos on a great bill moving forward in the Senate!

Religious freedom. Separation of church & state. Roger Williams’ founding of RI. These will be among the themes of next week’s big Rhode Island Day of Reason Ceremony! 3PM Tuesday at the State House Bell Room!

COMMENTARY: For the second year in a row, Governor Dan McKee denied a request for a proclamation recognizing a #DayofReason on May 1, 2024, to celebrate the importance of rational thought. Rhode Island Atheists plans to hold State House ceremony the day before anyway.

This week, Mark McKenney joined Reps. RI State Rep. David Morales 🌹 and Jennifer Stewart, RILA and the RI State Council of Churches to call for the passage of legislation protecting public libraries from partisan or doctrinal book-banning efforts.

The State Library is a hub for community events in RI! In 2023, over 26,000 people visited the State Library and 80 events were held here. It is essential that Rhode Islanders continue to connect with their history & continue to utilize this public space within the people’s house
