I’ve been setting out my agenda to rebuild this region

We face many challenges which 14 years of Tory rule has caused

I’m getting on with my plans to grow the regional economy, improve skills and better connect the region by bringing our buses back into public control🚌

A fantastic first day. Lots of media and photo calls but most importantly I had chance to meet the fantastic West Midlands Combined Authority team who are ready to deliver my plan for a fresh start.

That's the focus for the next few weeks, we're going to get on and deliver for this region.

Today, we've been in Birmingham to mark #WorldAsthmaDay . Over 300,000 people live with asthma in the West Midlands, 45,000 of these are children.

We met with newly elected West Mids Mayor, Richard Parker to make sure a region with cleaner air is made a priority from day one.

The situation in Rafah is very worrying. An Israeli offensive must not go ahead. There must be an end to the loss of innocent lives.

There should immediately be a ceasefire, the release of hostages and aid should be allowed into Gaza.
