Engagement doesn't mean much in the long run. Sales do, but it's hard to sell a game when it's effectively free on a subscription service. Hi-Fi Rush's 'engagement' didn't save its studio in the end. Again, Xbox needs to rethink its current strategy. It's clearly not working.

From a severe lack of true AAA exclusives, controversies over the dumbest shit, mass layoffs, and constant fanboy wars on social media, I find it increasingly difficult to maintain my passion for this hobby. What a sad and miserable state the industry is in.

Agree on all fronts. Tempted to say the answer is to burn down social media. Realistically, there's not much we can do. Humans are fundamentally awful and social media brings out the absolute worst in people. Only thing we can do is limit our time on these apps.

It's wild how some in the gaming community would rather their favorite publisher 'not bend the knee' than do the right thing for its customers. This Helldivers 2 fiasco has further exposed the toxicity of fanboy mentality. Sony is CORRECT in reversing its previous stance.
