Wow that's eyewatering! And the work of the BFI too.
Can't remember where I heard it so it might be bs, but apparently they're still annoyed that he found the snowball scene in their archives when they didn't know it was there bc he knew what he was looking for.

Brownlow is one of the greatest historians of early cinema there is. If you’ve never seen any of his incredible series Hollywood, it is usually available on YouTube. He is a genius and doesn’t deserve this treatment.

This is not remotely okay from the Cinémathèque. Kevin Brownlow is the reason we have NAPOLÉON *at all* today. He literally worked *with Abel Gance* in creating the restoration.

I had such a great time talking with Devan about Lubitsch’s screwball comedy. Please give the episode (and all of the others from his fantastic podcast) a listen!

It was a privilege to record an episode about the brilliant, provocative Angel for HOW WOULD LUBITSCH DO IT? with Devan Scott. It's my favorite Lubitsch, one of my favorite films. I hope I was able to contribute something useful to its underrated reputation. Yay Lubitsch!!
