Thanks to President Biden’ CHIPS and Science Act, Samsung is building a state-of-the-art semiconductor ecosystem in central Texas that will create over 20,000 jobs.

With the addition of investment through the CHIPS and Science Act, Samsung is expected to invest more than $40B in Central Texas in the coming years as one of the largest foreign direct investments for a greenfield project in United States history.

Two years ago, I joined President Biden at Samsung’s semiconductor facility in the Republic of Korea. I remember him saying: This is exactly what we need in the United States.

Thanks to his leadership on the CHIPS Act, Samsung is now building a facility twice the size in Texas.

As the author of the CHIPS for America Act, I was proud to attend today’s event celebrating historic investments into Samsung Electronics’s semiconductor plant in Taylor, Texas.

This over $40 billion investment is a game changer for Texas’ economy and for US national security.

Because of President Biden’s CHIPS and Science Act, our Administration is announcing a preliminary agreement with Samsung, which will unleash over $40 billion in private sector investment in semiconductor manufacturing in Texas and create at least 21,500 new jobs.
