Fish are the preferred prey of #WhiteTailedEagles even in winter when they are harder to find, like this fish that got stranded in a flooded field. As the birds approach breeding age we see them living largely in wetland areas with abundant fish.

Thank you birdsofpooleharbour for hosting us on yesterday's autumn safari boat trip. We were delighted to see female G466 on the shoreline. Released in 2020, she has paired up with male G463 and they have established a territory in and around Poole Harbour. Roy Dennis Foundation
Our team have spent over 5,000 hours studying the released #WhiteTailedEagles to understand more about their diet. We've discovered for the 1st time that these birds eat mollusc β cuttlefish to be precise, caught in the Solent!

This image of G812 harassing a red kite highlights a key #WhiteTailedEagle behaviour. Pirating food from other predatory birds is part of their role as an apex predator & one of the reasons why these birds are a critical part of the UK landscape.
