Not your grandmother’s burden-sharing. The idea that 2% (or 3) would still be a golden ticket in DC under President Trump is an illusion. As long as it plays domestically to berate Europeans, he will. Spending more won’t keep the US in (but, crucially, might keep Russia out).

It’s fantastic news that the aid package has passed. But the fact that it took so long should be the real wake up call for Europeans. Too much was lost in the waiting. We don’t need elections in US to demonstrate the risks of relying on the US (congress) to solve our own crises.
