I welcome the adoption of UNSC Resolution 2719(2023) on the financing of AU-led Peace Support Operations. This is a historic development that demonstrates the growing partnership between the African Union & UN. I commend the #A3 for their doggedness in securing this Resolution.

The #UNSC passed a resolution supporting UN funding of African-led peace operations 15-0, although only after a US/UK amendment insisting UN contributions should be capped at 75 squeaked through with 9 votes (and 6 abstentions). [1/3]
