Incredibly powerful sermon by the Illustrated Priest - Revd Alan Moss St Mary's Walthamstow about how God is inviting us to expand our vision & let go of the manufactured boundaries/barriers that unjustly keep certain people on the margins of Church & society.
On Sunday 5th May, we’ll celebrate Holy Communion at 9am & again at 10.30am with Revd Tim Scott leading & Revd Alan Moss preaching. There will be supervised children’s groups in the Welcome Centre at the 10.30am service & a Baby Lounge in the South Vestry. Join us! #Walthamstow
It’s great to be a polling station for today’s elections. Our cafe is open today, serving from the walk-up hatch, with seating in the courtyard & in the Exhibition Space. However, please note that our Play Area is closed today. Come & be part of democracy in action! #Walthamstow
Join us tonight (1 May) & on the 1st Wednesday of every month at 7.30pm for Vespers: 40 min of stillness & reflection in #Walthamstow ’s ancient church & oldest building. Whether you’re interested in contemplative prayer or just need a quiet place to sit, Vespers is for everyone.

Fill us, Lord,
not only with desire
to hear your voice,
but also with willingness
and openness
to listen,
to be enthused
and encouraged,
changed and challenged,
by what you have to say to us.
Keep us ready to respond
to your call upon us,
surprising as it may seem.
The Climate Damages Tax report calculates that an additional tax on fossil fuel majors based in the wealthiest OECD countries could raise $720bn (£580bn) by the end of the decade, helping poorer, climate-vulnerable countries cope with the climate crisis. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Lord, when life is busy
and demands are many,
when what others want from us
is more than we can offer,
when our heads and hearts
are full of the things
we would like to do,
but our resource is stretched,
then guide us,
give us wisdom,
help us find
our peace
in you.

Inspire us, Lord, to embody
the good news we proclaim,
for our communities
and for society;
to bring the savour
of your kingdom
to bear on the lives
of those around us:
not merely relieving symptoms,
but healing to the root of issues,
and peace and justice for all.
