A beautiful day here at The Keel Row as our pals at Staffa Trips & CalMac Ferries set off to Staffa & Iona respectively.
Episode 73 Cressida Cowell is now live! The author of the How to Train Your Dragon books, and many others beside, took time to talk to me about Little Colonsay, which inspired much of her work. Enjoy! whatwedointhewinter.com/2023/10/10/73-…
How incredible is Fingal's Cave! 🤯 Situated on the uninhabited Isle of #Staffa , this cave is one of the best examples of volcanic basalt columns in the WORLD & dates back around 60 million years! 🤩

Beautiful #Hebrides . Hard going but worth the effort! Columnar basalt forms giant cathedral-like space, where the waves create wonderful chocolatey resonances. Inspired Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture. #Fingalscave #Staffa near @IsleofIona VisitScotland
Walkway repairs are complete and Fingal's cave is now accessible on foot again.

Urgent #repairs are ongoing to steps into #fingalscave on #staffa - please do not try to enter the cave on foot while these are taking place. The good news is you'll have more time to spend at the #puffin colony!

Tremendous day at Staffa with Staffa Trips. The puffins were initially shy but they came in droves after we’d sat for a while. Skipper Graham Tindal even arranged sunshine for the day.
#OnThisDay (or #AroundThisDay !) in AD 563, St Columba and 12 companions are said to have arrived at the island of Iona, having travelled from Ireland.
The monastery they founded remains an important and beautiful place of pilgrimage.

Our new hall has been shortlisted in the 2023 My Place Awards, which will be presented by the Scottish Civic Trust later this month. As part of the process we were asked to submit a short film about the new building. Ours is here: youtu.be/s0cDF_254cA
