Labour politicians in Newcastle have written to Environment Agency chief executive Philip Duffy to ask about plans to restore Walleys Quarry once landfill operations cease.

They’re concerned plans haven’t been updated since pre-2016 and about the H2S emissions at the site.

Environment Health officers Newcastle-u-Lyme BC are preparing legal action after they confirmed a breach of the Abatement Notice by Walleys Quarry Landfill. Hopefully another step toward closure and permanent caping off of the stinking landfill.

A review of the not-fit-for-purpose environment agency is urgently needed.

The workers are good people, their leadership is a threat to the environment

Do not forget that he also voted to allow water companies to continue to dump sewage into our rivers & seas; he supposedly supports pensioners but refused to sign EDM for 1950’s born women’s pension scandal. He will not be getting my vote.
