I’ve been thinking about Royal College of Occupational Therapists conference and I think I’d like to see someone come and talk about how OT has not always been helpful to them. I think we pat ourselves on the back a lot - but we definitely still have ableism to challenge!

Cafés, hairdressers, prayer rooms etc. The hair salon in the hospital was hugely important for some patients.

For students and qualified occupational therapists, I am creating an induction pack for new staff working in inpatient mental health services. On reflection, If you were either newly qualified or new to mental health, what information would you have found helpful to know?

Definitely the OT process, the role of the discharge coordinator and what is considered as a support need when assessing/screening new patients

We started with co production first. The original research question was not what the Somali community perceived was important. Then tried to fit it to top 10 priorities.
